‘Moor’ goodies

With the improvement in the weather, the wildlife seems to have woken up and is making up for lost time. A few intrepid ‘moth-ers’ ventured out onto the moors over the bank holiday weekend.

This superb shot of a female Emperor moth, an iconic moorland species, shown here was seen on both Thorne and Crowle Moors. Thanks to John Hartley for sharing his stunning image with us.

This other iconic heathland species has been sent by Dave Williamson who photographed this Haworth’s Minor on Hatfield Moors in July last year.
