“In the Bog : The ecology, landscape, archaeology and heritage of Peatlands.”

Professor Ian D. Rotherham and colleagues are organising a major event on the theme of ‘Peatland Landscapes, Past, Present & Future’.  It will look at the history of human activity associated with peatland landscapes – heaths, moors, bogs, fens and commons; the ecology and archaeology of peatlands; the landscapes of peatlands and their neglected heritage; the conservation management of peatlands – problems and issues; and the future challenges with climate change and carbon sequestration.

The conference is supported by IPS, BES, IUCN UK Peatland, IUFRO, LCF, SHU, JBA Consulting and Thorne & Hatfield Moors Conservation Forum.

3-5 September at the Workstation (Pasternoster Row) in Sheffield.  There is also a field trip on the Wednesday, Thursday & Friday are plenary and parallel themed sessions.
